    Randomness
Early this morning as I was getting ready for work iIwas watching a rerun of "Angel". I really miss that show and I miss Buffyy as well. Anyway...Angel was off to get something for Cordy. What did he have to get? A potion from Anita! I just cracked up when I heard that.

Yep QAF lives in other fandoms. YAY!!

    Superbowl Rant
Congrats to the NY Giants. Let me just say that I really didn't care who won. I thought it would be fun to say that I saw history made if the Patriots won. Living in NJ so all the news comes from NY, at least I won't hear ad naseum about how Eli Manning can't win the big one.

My rant? Bill Belichik, the Patriots head coach. That fucking poor sport asshole walked of the field with one second left and his defense still playing. There is no reason unless he had been ejected, that he shouldn't have still been on the sidelines. I realize that the 1 second put back on the clock was ridiculous but still, the game was NOT OFFICIALLY OVER. As head coach you stay with your team.

If I were a Patriots fan I would be so pissed off at him and his crappy attitude.

    RL rant
I cannot tell you how much I loathe my ex-husband right now.  The backstory:

I get a panicked phone call from my son that there is water pouring from the boiler. Yep, just what you want to hear on your way home playing in traffic. I tell him where the water shut off is and then get towels etc to start mopping things up. Got older son home to get wet vac to start sucking up water. I get home to find water all over the basement, carpet pulling up from the floor, and no heat. I call the plumber and older son calls his father to get his wet vac.

Now the ex lives about five minutes away. I know what my son told him, I was right there. My son sounded very worried. 15 minutes later the ex and the plumber show up at the same time. I love my plumber, he has done a lot for me and at a cut rate. Anyway, the plumber goes to the basement and the ex surveys the basement, water and towels. I say to him that if the heat doesn't get fixed the boys should stay with him. He looks at me and says, "I'll bring over some electric heaters," and he fucking LEAVES. What kind of asshole doesn't offer to have his sons stay in a heated house? Hasn't called to see if his sons are OK.  Bastard.

Thanks for letting me rant. Must get back to the basement now. Oh, and yay for heat!

I originally posted this on </a></strong></a>[info]vamphile's journal, but figured I'd let the rest of you in on some of the things about me:

    1. I was queen of the debutante ball in Montgomery in 1979. Yep long white gown, gloves, tiara, cape, scepter the works. And the rest of the court had to curtsey to me. Loved it. I get an invitation to the ball each year addressed to Queen Kathleen.
2.I believe in ghosts. Not the will do you harm kind, but people left behind for some reason.
    3.Hate to clean, always have.
4.I love to sing but can't carry a tune to save my life. My children asked me not to sing to them when they were little! Critics everywhere.
5.I bite my nails. it is an awful habit that I have given up so many times but then all hell breaks loose in RL and I am back to biting. Given it up again, maybe it will work this time.

Not tagging anyone but I do like reading these.

    Sweeney Todd
I went to see Sweeney Todd last night with tenorgroupie from LJ and I really liked it. When we got to the theatre is was full of teens and pre-teens; at first we thought we were in the wong theatre. The girls had come to watch Johnny Depp and the boys were either dragged along or went because of the girls. But they were all amazingly well behaved; no giggling, talking, or texting as far as I could tell.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Johnny Depp can sing! He doesn't have the most amazing voice but he certainly carries the part. Helena Bonham Carter, as she so aptly sings, is a woman of limited wind, but carries the part of Mrs. Lovett well. Alan Rickman was great a Judge Turpin, suitably creepy, but he should not sing. Sorry Alan, I do love you, but no. The cinematography was great: all blacks, grays, and bluewash, except for the blood, spilled liberally, and daydreams of Mrs. Lovett.

I got several flashbacks to Edward Scissorhands which would be expected because of the actor, director, similar makeup, and the wielding of sharp instruments. And in many of the scenes with Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall, I got real Harry Potter flashes of Snape and Wormtail. And the boy in the docket looked like a Weasely.

So go see Sweeney Todd, I really think you'll like it.

    Sigh, corporate life
I got some really good news today. a large insurance case that I have spent the last five months owrking on was accepted with a big premium. So what did I do? Why the Justin snoopylicious dance of course! (Yes, Justin does it so much better than I do. ) Anyway, when asked what I was doing I explained. Blank states all around. So I just called it my happy dance. I guess corporate is just not ready for QAF yet. Their loss.

    When RL and fandom collide
i got a great laugh after church today. There is a pre-school in part of my church and one of the teachers who is also a parishioner was changing the bulletin board. She had taken down part of the banner so all that was left, in large letters, was MUNCHERS. I started laughing so hard, had tears streaming down my face. I tried to explain but she wasn't a QAF fan and had no concept of how funny it was. Oh well, her loss. But thinking about that and laughing has kept me warm on this cold day.

    Help
Several month ago, there was quite a discussion as to what sort of ring tones Brian and Justin would have. Someone wrote a very funny fic that encompassed a lot of the suggestions. But for the life of me I can' t remember the author or the title of the fic. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it.

ETA: Thanks to the wonderful flamencanyc the fic is Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song by Cold_Poet and can be found on bjfic.net

    So pissed off

An update on my friend who had the stroke a couple of weeks ago. She is doing well, but still gets very tired and does have a headache that comes and goes. But she is on medication and is being monitored by her doctors. Anyway...

She went back to work part time last week, her first week back, and is back full time this week. But this is what her raving asshole of a boss did to her. He told her that her comp/personal days would only cover 3 days that "she took off". Yeah, it is amazing how a stroke "makes" you take time off. Then her boss tells her the rest of the time will be covered by disability. My friend, obviously not at her best, shrugged and sighed "Whatever". Her jerk of a boss starts to yell at her for her attitude and tells her that he could fire her if he wanted. Um, maybe someone should tell the idiot that yelling at someone recovering from a stroke is not a good thing. Well the asshole made her cry, something she rarely does. If he does fire her, she certainly can sue the pants off the bastard.

This has made me so mad I want to scream. Plus I am still freaked out that a very good friend, a year younger than me, had a stroke.

    Update
Got to see my friend who had the stroke today. She was finally moved out of neuro-ICU this morning but they are still monitoring her. The tests are inconclusive as to whether she has a migraine induced stroke or not. Tests on both her femoral carotid arteries were clear. She still have has a headache. They are treating it with a low dose of morphine! Just enough to take away the pain but it doesn't cure the headache.

She is lucid, if she wasn't in the hospital you wouldn't know anything was wrong. But she has a bit of tingling in the fingers on her right hand. Her physical therapist has had her up and walking, she took a shower, so she is steady on her feet.

So good news and sort of no news. She may get out out late tomorrow or on Tuesday. But very scary because so far they don't know what caused this.

Thanks to all of you who send your good wishes. *Hugs you all*

    Worried
I just received a phone call that has me freaked out and very worried. A very good friend woke up this morning with a splitting headache. A couple of hours later her right side went numb. She is now in neuro-intensive care because they think she had a stroke. She is 47! Her husband says it sounds worse than it is, but she is 47 and has had a stroke. She cannot have visitors except for family  until late tomorrow at the earliest. My thoughts are so scattered that I barely know if I am making sense.

Please keep my friend in your thoughts.

    Tribute to my father
This is cross posted to my LJ.

Yesterday was the second anniversary of my father's death. I was OK, I talked and laughed with my mother and we shared some stories, so I really wasn't too emotional. Today I get this email from my mother from the minister at her church. It was sent to both my mother and sister:

I guess over the last 48 years I have watched a lot of TV! Gacked from </a></strong></a>[info]simons_flower:

    - Bold all of the following TV shows of which you've seen 3 or more episodes.
    - Italicize a show if you're positive you've seen every episode.
    - Asterisk if you have at least one full season on tape or DVD
    - If you want, add up to 3 additional shows (keep the list in alphabetical order).

    Shakespeare in a nutshell
My 17 year old' s take on Othello and Shakespeare in general.

Son: We just finished reading Othello.

Me: I loved Othello. What did you think?

Son: It sucks to be Othello!

    Me: ---

Son: Face it, if Shakespeare put you in the title, Hamlet, King Lear, Julius Ceaser, it sucked to be you.

Me: Even though I am loathe to admit it, you have a point. Please don't bring this up in class!
